We don’t need much of an excuse to take the beautiful summertime drive down the Bitterroot.

But for those of you looking for a good reason, may we suggest the upcoming Bitterroot Celtic Games & Gathering in Hamilton?

Whether as a participant or just an onlooker, a fun experience is pretty much all but guaranteed at this 9th annual event. The list of activities is long, but here are some highlights:

• Highland Athletic Competitions: If super strong men in kilts hurling logs sounds like fun, then you don’t want to miss the Highland games. There’s lots of events for women and children in here too, and all participants receive a weekend pass plus a T-shirt. CLICK HERE for a schedule of events or to register.

• Dancing, drumming and piping competitions: Nothing brings us back to the old country like traditional Celtic song and dance, and the weekend is packed with competitions and showcases by all ages and abilities.

• Food: Nothing completes a festival like delicious food and drink, and at the Bitterroot Celtic Games & Gathering you’re going to be delighted by all the traditional fare options, including Scottish smoked salmon cheese pate, whiskey and scotch tastings and more!

Also, be sure to catch the Beards & Braids contest, the Tug-o-War and free piping and language classes throughout the weekend.

This year’s Bitterroot Celtic Games & Gathering kicks off at 9 am Saturday, August 18 and runs through the end of day Sunday. A full schedule of events is available HERE – or be sure to stay on top of the latest news and happenings on the group’s Facebook event page.

Jack FM Missoula is celebrating the arrival of the warm weather season with ticket giveaways to one of the most anticipated events of the summer!

Tune in starting Tuesday, May 1st, and when you hear the Eddie Vedder wail text “JACK” to 848-1059 and you’ll automatically be registered to win. We’ll collect names all through the month and give away a pair of tickets every Friday through June 1st.

Jack is all about the college lifestyle.

The sports, the girls, the parties, the late night pizza runs … yep, he’s been living that way for years.

The thing is, Jack’s not too much into learning. And he’s not exactly welcome on the UM campus anymore.

But that’s another story.

So instead of providing the kind of support you probably want, Jack’s here to provide the kind of support you really need: A soundtrack for the grind.

What do we mean by that?

Jack keeps the party rocking all the time. Whether it’s pop rock, classic rock or buttrock, his soundtrack is all about variety with attitude.

He’s there for you on those Friday nights when you’ve got the lampshade on you head in some dirty basement apartment in the Slant Streets. He’s by your side on those Saturday mornings when you need a little extra motivation to get out of bed and continue on with life.

Jack keeps it rocking Sundays, when you’re cramming in a week’s worth of homework in the final two hours of the weekend; and he keeps it rocking Monday morning when you’re polling your friends for great excuses for skipping class.
