Socially Distant t-shirt sale to benefit Feeding America!

Social Distancing in style!

Let’s be real, Montana has been socially distancing since it was the “cool”and “right”thing to do. Currently millions of Americans are staying home to flatten the curve and protect our communities most vulnerable from the novel coronavirus. That spirit of helping has gone into overdrive with community members stepping up to volunteer and donate to our local food banks, helping quarantined neighbors and shopping locally online.

In that spirit of helping, Jack FM 105.9 Missoula joins all Jack FM partners across the nation in the “Socially Distant” tshirt sale with proceeds donated to Feeding Americas Covid-19 fund.

Skid Row.

That’s enough right there, but check this out: Everlast, Theory of a Deadman, Fuel, Eve 6 … the list goes on and on (and on).

We’re talking about Rockin’ the Rivers 2018, the huge annual metal bash that unfolds over three days every August in Three Forks, Montana.

This year’s line-up may be the greatest we’ve seen, and you can bet Jack’s already lacing up his combat boots and stocking up on hair grease for his favorite weekend of the year.

But this time around, Jack’s taking some special guests. Two, in fact, who won’t just win tickets to the fest – they’ll be taking VIP passes. That means you’ll be feeling “very important” as you enjoy not just great hard rock and metal performances, but also free camping and access to the special VIP party zone.

We’re talking shade, complimentary drinks and rubbing shoulders with other metal fanatics just like yourself.

So let’s cut to the chase – how can you get your mittens on a pair of these passes? It’s easy – just follow THIS LINK to our online submission form, enter your info, and we’ll pick a winner at random on July 27.

Yep, that’s it. Throw your name into the hat and you’ve got just as much a chance to win as the next guy.

Good luck, and rock on, Jackhead!

Here again is the link to sign up.

Missoula Osprey more than a sporting event

Weather pending, tonight marks the home opener of the 2018 Missoula Osprey season.

Yes, we know – you listen to Jack FM first and foremost because of the music. But we’d like to think that community and entertainment in general are also high on your reasons for loving Jack, and whether you’re a sports fan or not we think there’s a lot of great reasons to celebrate summer baseball.

To honor that, we’ve outlined three non-baseball reasons to get excited about the Osprey:

1. The peanuts and Cracker Jacks

OK, so Cracker Jacks aren’t on the menu at the concession stands at Ogren Park Allegiance Field – but peanuts certainly are, as are all the other iconic ballpark greats: Hot dogs, ice cream and, yes, beer. To be honest, we’re really not all that much into peanuts during our normal daily lives. But nothing helps pass those stagnant times between innings, during pitching changes – heck, between pitches – like cracking open a tasty nut and tossing the shell onto the concrete floor.

By the way, if you’re partaking in Osprey baseball just for the food then we recommend you get familiar with their nightly specials. Taco Tuesdays, anyone?

2. The actual osprey

When peanuts have lost their luster, there’s plenty of entertainment to be found circling above the stadium. The team’s namesake osprey – a mom, dad and their young, we presume, are often as engaging as the action on the diamond. You can’t see them actually fish from this vantage point, but you can see them head out empty-beaked and return with a tasty treat for the family. Sometimes just watching their giant, crowd-sweeping circles is enough. Are you mad, bro?

The Missoula Osprey is the only minor league franchise with a live mascot living in its natural habitat at their stadium.

3. Those crazy kids

Unless you’re a hardcore baseball fan, the best seats in the house aren’t the ones adjacent to home plate – they’re deep out in left field, in the general admission “seating”. On a grassy knoll, you’ll hardly find a game where there aren’t a throng of baseball runts doing everything BUT watching the game. They’re rolling, they’re chasing, they’re doing what kids do best. Most importantly, they’re waiting for a foul ball to land in their territory – and when it happens, let’s just say you’d better stay clear.

The best part, though, is when the foul falls just outside the grassy zone and the outfielder manages to scoop it up. These kids will say just about anything to get hold of that ball; they’re certainly not too proud to beg.

For just $20 you can sign your young one up for the Ollie Osprey Kids Club and pick up two general admission tickets to every Sunday home game, plus a child’s T-shirt, a kids’ clinic and an exclusive autograph session with Osprey players.

Whether it’s the ballpark concessions, birdwatching or modern day anthropology you’re seeking, there’s plenty of non-baseball reasons to catch a Missoula Osprey game. What other event is as fun for families as it is with a date – to say nothing of the joys of watching baseball alone? Tune in all season long for ticket giveaways, and enjoy the best of Missoula summer before it slips away!

When it comes to holidays, none is perhaps more relaxing than Father’s Day.

What do we mean? We mean Dads are, typically, extremely easy to honor. Get him a necktie, tell him he’s the man, and then get on with your day. Men don’t like all that gushy stuff anyways, right?

But believe it or not, there’s an even easier way to make Dad happy on his special day. Just plan something fun for the family, throw in some free food, and he’ll probably be so excited he’ll still do all the prep work, from packing the lawn chairs and snacks to chauffeuring the crew there and back!

This Father’s Day, Jack FM Missoula is giving away the ultimate Dad’s Day package: A free four-pack of tickets to Friday’s “Symphony Under the Big Sky” PLUS a $50 gift card to the Montana Club. Seriously – kick back under the stars to great music from the Missoula Symphony and guest performer Chris Botti, and then pig out on cheese curds, burgers and other forms of deliciousness at Montana Club after the show!

All you have to do is FOLLOW THIS LINK to enter your name and phone number, and Jack will pick a winner on Thursday.

In the meantime, here’s some more details about the show:

Grammy Award-winning trumpeter Chris Botti will join the Missoula Symphony Orchestra for a special performance Friday, June 15th, at Big Sky Brewing Company in Missoula.

Botti, an Oregon native, began honing his craft as a studio musician in 1985 and has performed around the world with both jazz masters and pop stars ranging from Frank Sinatra and Buddy Rich to Roger Daltry and Paul Simon. Four of his albums were ranked No. 1 slot on Billboard jazz album charts, his latest – 2013’s Impressions – winning a Grammy for Best Pop Instrumental Album.

“Symphony Under the Big Sky” marks the first of what is expected to be a series of outdoor summer performances co-hosted by Missoula Symphony Association and Knitting Factory Presents.

Doors open at 6 pm; show starts at 7:30. Tickets are on sale now at at Big Sky Brewing Company, Rockin’ Rudy’s, by calling 866-468-7624 and online HERE.19_Edp
